Lavenhams great wealth cam from a thriving industrin cloth production, which reached its peak in the earlyu sixteenth century. A generation later the economic bubble had burst and Lavenham was left in a backwater. The townsfolk could not even afford to rebuild their houses. Three centuries later the railway came to the town and regenerated the economy so the town became relativly affluent once more. Lavenham Little Hall 14th Century hall house restored in the 1930's by Gayer-Andersons and filled with their collectioin of art and artefacts. This much loved museum withits tranquil garden will intrigue you with the story of its occupants through the century.
